Erica Hensley is health and data reporter in the Deep South. Before joining The Fuller Project, she covered public health for Mississippi Today, where she focused on data-driven health investigations. Holding a Master's degree in Health & Medical Journalism, she's passionate about public health policy and storytelling’s ability to ignite progress. She specializes in reporting reproductive and aging health beats, infectious diseases, and other health and science stories that are often overlooked or oversimplified. For her, context and empathy reign supreme.

Erica has previously worked as managing editor of the Aesculapian, a veterinary medicine news magazine; reported for Atlanta’s Creative Loafing and Turner Broadcasting; managed an indie bookstore; and worked as a copy editor for the American Psychological Association. She earned a double BA from University of Southern California where she studied journalism and political science, and ran a youth mentoring program in South Central, LA.

She splits her time between Atlanta and Jackson, Miss. and loves baseball, books, the blues and good bourbon. Tweet her @e_hensley.
